The Simpsons is adult animated TV series, developed in the US. It was created by Matt Groening. It is broadcasted by the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series follows the life of a middle class American family. The main characters are: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

The action is set in a small American town, called Springfield. Its debut was on December 17, 1989. Since then it broadcasted 568 episodes during 26 seasons. This is the longest running American sitcom and animated program. In 2007 was released The Simpsons Movie, which grossed $527 million. On October 28, 2014 producers announced that production of Season 27 has started.

Interesting fact is that one actor is ‘’lending’’ its voice to several characters. So, Dan Castellaneta is responsible for: Homer, Barney, Krusty, Hans Moleman, Groundskeeper Willie, Mayor Quimby and Grampa. Julie Kavner’s characters are: Marge, Patty and Selma. Nancy Cartwright’s characters are: Bart, Nelson, Ralph and Todd Flanders. Yeardley Smith, has only one character, Lisa.

During its broadcast, this TV series was awarded many times! Time magazine awarded it as the best series of the 20th century! It even got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on January 14, 2000. Currently, The Simpsons has a rating of 8.9/10 from 206.989 viewers.

The six main actors had a salary of $30.000 per episode, until 1998, when it was raised to $125.000. Since 2008 the main six actors have a salary of $400.000 per episode. In 2011, Fox forced producers to cut the costs of the series. After negotiations, salary of the actors was a 30% cut down, so they have a salary of $300.000 per episode.
