After all the talk about where the famed “Seinfeld” will be showcased it is now official that Hulu will be the show’s new home.
As it was announced on Wednesday at a NewsFront presentation which had been staged by Hulu, all 180 episode of Seinfeld will be for streaming to Hulu subscribers come June this year.
Earlier this month it was reported that Netflix had passed on the idea of showcasing Seinfeld in its network after a bidding war for streaming rights for streaming the beloved show started among top streaming services in the U.S., the major streaming services which were fighting for the rights included Yahoo and Amazon.
After that particular fight, it was revealed that Hulu emerged victoriously and it has acquired the rights to showcase all the 180 episodes of “Seinfeld”, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Although there hasn’t been an official statement released by Hulu regarding the recent news, a source close to the streaming company has told Wall Street Journal that Hulu paid an estimated $700,000 per episode, that’s $126 million for all the 180 episodes.
We might not have to wait for long as The Hollywood Reporter and The Verge are reporting that Hulu will be making an announcement with regards to the deal come Wednesday or Thursday next week.
Hulu took o their social media platform to share the great news with its fans. In twitter, Hulu posted the following;
“In the beginning, there was TV. Yada yada yada. “Seinfeld” is coming soon to #hulu. #HuluUpfront15”
