Two worst ads in Super Bowl XLIX

Two worst ads in Super Bowl XLIX

Every year we have the best and worst when it comes to commercials that companies release to millions of viewers. Millions of dollars are spent in Super Bowl ads and sometimes the advertisements can do more harm than good. Here are two of the worst ads in 2015’s Super Bowl.

Nationwide’s “Make safe Happen”

“Make safe Happen” is a public service program by Nationwide. It provides information to parents on how to help curb household accidents that put their kids in danger. It was a well-made ad with an important message but the ad plays on fears of parents who are already freaked about the safety of their children. The company had to release a statement saying they were not trying to sell insurance. This ad was clearly a disaster.

Nissan “ With dad”

The Nissan ad is about a father who misses all his child’s milestones in life because he is busy with work as a race car driver. At the end he shows up with a brand new red car, which seems like he is trying to make up for the lost time and the ad end when father and son are hugging. With millions of children in America living in a home without a father, this ad doesn’t seem to be a good idea. It’s a long ad which is a bit long and no one barely talks. The ad also uses Harry Chaplin’s “Cat in the Cradle” which is about a dad who is so busy to spend time with his son and the son ends up being too busy too to spend time with his dad. At the end one can’t help but ask what does the ad have to do with Nissan?
